Feel free to ask the Columbine staff if you have any questions about places to go or things to do during your stay.
Hiking & Mountain Biking
Enjoy easy to challenging hikes in the national forest and state park lands convenient to Columbine. Columbine staff members are happy to offer suggestions.
Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing
Ski or snowshoe from your cabin door. If Columbine’s one-mile loop is too tame for you, there are miles of groomed multi use trails easily accessible from Columbine. Or, ski or snowshoe off-trail on national forest land for a more tranquil experience. Steamboat Lake State Park has groomed non-motorized Nordic trails.
There are over 100 miles of groomed snowmobile trails accessible from Columbine. While we do not allow riding of your machines to directly to your cabin, we provide a staging area and convenient trail access. To check on the grooming status of our trails, click here.
Horseback Riding and Dinner or Sleigh Rides
We recommend the Hahn’s Peak Road House.
Steamboat Springs has a lot going on year round. Especially popular are downhill skiing at the Steamboat Ski Area, special events like winter carnival and the hot air balloon festival, Old Town Hot Springs with modern hot spring-fed pool and water slide, and the Strawberry Park Hot Springs which provides a more natural setting.
See Steamboat and surrounding mountains and valleys by air. View Mt. Werner, the Mount Zirkel wilderness area north of Steamboat, and the Flat Tops wilderness area to the south of Steamboat. Contact the Zephyr Helicopter Company for more information.
