Frequently Asked Questions

Our kitchens are fully stocked with dishware, utensils, and cookware. We supply dish soap and hand soap as well a paper towel and a dish cloth and drying towel. All cabins (except for Hilltop) have a microwave oven, a stove, and refrigerator. Some cabins include an oven. All cabins (except for Hilltop) have running hot/cold potable water to the kitchen sink.

No, the beds are made with sheets, blanket, and comforter. We supply an extra blanket in the cabin, if needed. We supply one bath towel per guest. In cabins with bathrooms, we provide wash cloths as well as one hand towel per bathroom.

Check-in is at 4:00PM.  We try to have all the cabins ready to go by 3:00PM. During the summer when then General Store is open please come in to the Store and check-in on your arrival. During the winter or after 5:00 PM (when the General Store is closed), we will post a map with your last name on it on the box to the right of the door to the General Store. The map will show you how to get to your cabin. The outside light will be on and the door will be unlocked, you can proceed directly to your cabin. We have a key hanging near the door inside the cabin if you prefer to lock up when you are away from the cabin.

Yes, each cabin has a propane grill. We supply propane, grill brush, and grill utensils

Yes, each cabin has heat. Some have only electric heat, while others have a combination of electric baseboard heat and a wood burning stove or gas heat stove. We supply firewood.

Unless we are under fire restrictions, we have a community fire pit near our Lodge building that you may use. It is stocked with firewood. We do not allow fires at individual cabins.

We are located 29 miles north of Steamboat Springs on County Road 129. Our address is 64505 County Road 129, Clark, CO 80428.

Yes, we allow well-behaved dogs. We request that you complete our pet waiver form prior to your arrival. We do not allow your dog to remain in the cabin while you are away unless it is in a crate and won’t disturb other guests while you are away. Dogs must be always under your control. We do not allow cats or other animals.

We allow smoking outdoors. We provide a butt can on the porch of each cabin. No smoking of any type (cigarette, cigar, pipe, vaping, marijuana, etc.) is allowed in any of our indoor spaces. A $200.00 cleaning charge will be assessed if smoking is detected in any cabin.

No, we do not have Wi-Fi or Televisions on the property. Our goal is for you to be able to “Unplug and Unwind.”

No. The nearest cellular service is at the Fire Station about three (3) miles south on County Road 129.

We have a telephone on the outside of our General Store that you can make local (970) calls. We provide you with phone numbers to reach our on-site staff after hours if you need assistance. While our General Store is open (generally 9 AM to 5 PM in the summer), we can take a message for you if someone needs to reach you. Otherwise, you can drive down the hill about 3 miles near the Fire Station and your cell phone should have service.

No. Six (6) of our cabins have bathrooms (Caron House, Merchants, Porcupine, Burton, Bear, and Skiers). The remaining eight (8) cabins use the bathrooms and showers in our Lodge building which is open 24 hours per day. We keep our bathrooms and showers very clean!

No. Our General Store sell snacks and drinks, In the summer, we hand scoop single-batch homemade ice cream from Rocky Mountain Creamery (Craig, CO) from our food trailer in the parking lot behind the General Store. There are two restaurants located in Hahns Peak Village about 4 miles south on County Road 129. Hahns Peak Café and Steamboat Lake Outpost. The Clark Store (about 12 miles south on County Road 129) has a deli that is open for breakfast and lunch.

Yes. We have a fox family that lives on the property. We also have mule deer, an occasional moose, and various chipmunks, squirrels or marmots.

Yes! While we don’t allow your UTV or snowmobile to be ridden directly to your cabin, you may park your UTV or snowmobile along with any trailer in the parking lot behind our General Store and ride off our property to Forest Road 490 directly across County Road 129. Forest Road 490 provides access to endless other forest roads in Routt National Forest.

Our property is located along the boundary of Game Unit (GMU) 5 and 214. GMU 14 is across County Road 129 to the East.

Yes. Hahns Peak Lake is about 1.5 miles to the South on County Road 129. Steamboat Lake (along with Steamboat Lake State Park) is about 4 miles to the South on County Road 129. Pearl Lake (Pearl Lake State Park) is about 7 miles to the South on County Road 129. All three lakes are stocked with trout. Steamboat Lake is a designated Gold Medal lake

There are numerous hiking trails nearby. We have a one (1) mile loop trail on our property. The Prospector Trail is less than one (1) mile away and is a single-track trail that ventures west for nearly 11 miles just to our South. Hahn Peak can be hiked from a parking lot 1.5 miles up Forest Road 490. It is a 1.5-mile hike to the top (elevation 10,839 feet) and provides spectacular 360-degree views. Additionally, we are about 15 miles from access to the Mount Zirkel Wilderness which has the infamous “Zirkel Circle” hike.

Generally, we don’t see temperatures above 80 degrees F. The air is dry and the nights are cool (about 45 degrees F). We have fans in each cabin to help keep you cool – no air conditioning is needed?

While we hope that you take everything with you when you check out, there are times when you may end up leaving something behind.  Please contact as soon as possible about your item.  If we find something in a cabin, we will place it in our “lost and found”.  We will return an item to you if you provide us with a self-addressed pre-paid USPS shipping label appropriate for the size of the item.  On our next trip to the Post Office, we will place the item in a flat rate box and ship it to you.  E-mail a .pdf copy of the shipping label to info@historiccolumbine.com.
